Many of Greater Philadelphia’s companies — no matter the industry — are growing fast. In fact, they’re soaring.

That’s why the Philadelphia Business Journal each year ranks the fastest-growing companies — the Soaring 76 — based on revenue growth. The results are in for this year’s Soaring 76. All 76 companies that made the list are identified in the accompanying photo gallery – in alphabetical order.

Why 76? You don’t have to be a history major to know that no number is more associated with Philadelphia than 76.

The ranking of all 76 won’t be revealed until the Philadelphia Business Journal’s Soaring 76 awards program on Sept. 26 at SugarHouse Casino Event Center.

How did we determine the fastest-growing companies? We solicited nominations for Soaring 76. Then, for the companies that qualified, we looked at revenue growth over a three-year period from 2016 through 2018..

The Business Journal also crunched the revenue numbers from all public companies headquartered in Greater Philadelphia using Securities and Exchange Commission filings

Specifically, the final list ranking will come from averaging the percent change in revenue from 2016 to 2017 and the percent change from 2017 to 2018. Companies must be headquartered in Greater Philadelphia, have no parent company and have generated at least $750,000 in revenue in 2016 and at least $2 million in 2018 to qualify.

Director of Research Sharon Oliver made sure all companies met the eligibility requirements. As an added safeguard, our Soaring 76 accounting firm partner CliftonLarsonAllen vetted and verified the final results.
